Donna Ridings

Donna Ridings, Health & Safety Advisor for Calder Stewart was recently selected as Top Health & Safety Advisor of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for her outstanding leadership and commitment to the industry. 

 

While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in the field, other affiliations and contributions to their communities.  All honorees are invited to attend the IAOTP’s annual award gala at the end of this year for a night to honor their achievements.

With over 10 years of professional experience as a Health and Safety Advisor, Coordinator and Manager, Donna has certainly proven herself as an accomplished professional and expert in the field.  As a dynamic, results-driven leader Donna has demonstrated success through Leadership skills, HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) Business Support, Training and Development, Policy Development and Audits/Inspections. Donna is a dedicated Health and Safety Advisor within the Oil & Gas/Mining/Construction Industry currently working for Calder Stewart, one of New Zealand’s Leading Construction Companies.

Serving as a Health and Safety Manager and Advisor, Donna worked with various companies such as Danone Nutricia, Switched On, March Construction, Central Systems, and Lycopodium EPCM. Her key areas of expertise include but are not limited to Investigations of Accidents and Incidents, Staff Liaison, Risk Assessment, Hazardous Substances, Developing and Delivering Training,  Health and Safety Legislation, Auditing and Recommending Safe Working Practices, Developing and Administering Procedures, Maintaining Records and Systems, Health and Safety Strategy and Arrangements, Office Safety and Fire Safety and Emergency Response. 

Before embarking on her current career path, Donna became certified in 2010 with a Cert IV in H&S and received her Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Diploma in 2012. Throughout her training and course developments, she completed more than 20 different certifications to further her education in Health and Safety Management.

The President of IAOTP, Stephanie Cirami, stated “Choosing Donna for this award was an easy decision for our panel to make. She is a proactive advisor who has a genuine concern for people and their safety. She has remarkable values and effectively influences and promotes service excellence on all professional levels. We felt she would make an amazing asset to our organization and we are looking forward to meeting her at the 2020 Annual Awards Gala being held at The Plaza Hotel in New York City.”

Throughout her career Donna has received awards, accolades and has been recognized worldwide for her outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession. This year she is being considered for a feature in TIP (Top Industry Professional) Magazine and she was selected as Top Health & Safety Advisor by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP). For 2021 she is being considered for the Empowered Woman of the Year Award for her tremendous foresight and extensive knowledge within her field.

Looking back, Donna attributes her success to her persistence, mentors she has had the pleasure of working alongside and her ability to lead. When not working, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. For the future, she hopes to continue offering her valuable experience and support to provide a safe working environment for people and to ensure the safety of all equipment
