Empowered Woman of the Year Award

Joan McManus-Massey, Senior Vice President & Partner at Aon Hewitt was selected for the Empowered Woman of the Year Award for 2018 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP).

While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few women are selected for this distinction.The Empowered Woman of the Year is an award that is given for a Woman who has excelled tremendously in a male dominated industry and has inspired other professionals by her outstanding commitment and contributions to society. IAOTP is incredibly honored to be able to recognize Joan for her success and dedication.

Joan has honored for this achievement at the 2018 IAOTP’s Annual Award Gala being held at the Plaza Hotel in, NYC.She will be presented not only with the Empowered Woman of the Year Award but also for her selection as Top Female VP of the Year. Joan is being recognized for having over 35 years of professional experience in global human resources, outsourcing, and in senior management leadership positions. As a dynamic, results-driven leader, Joan has demonstrated success not only with Aon Hewitt but with every position she has ever held.Prior to joining Aon, Joan enjoyed her career with AT&T in a broad set of business functions, including global mergers and acquisitions, global human resources, outsourcing and finance.Her key responsibilities included acquisitions, divestitures, insourcing and outsourcing.She represented HR with the business, finance, and legal teams in the areas of organization design, talent assessment and HR solutions; due diligence; contract negotiations; employee transition and integration; and employee communications.During her tenure in this position she was engaged in close to 250 domestic and global transactions.

Joan received her Bachelor Degree in Social Work from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D. C.She has also participated in a number of executive programs in HR and Labor strategies at Cornell, Wharton, and the University of Michigan.The President of IAOTP, Stephanie Cirami, stated “Choosing Joan for this award was an easy decision for our panel to make.She is talented, humble, gracious, and brilliant at what she does.We felt she would make an amazing asset to our organization.We are looking forward to meeting her at the gala and know we will be seeing more amazing things from this amazing woman.” 

Throughout her illustrious career Joan has received awards, accolades and has been recognized worldwide for her outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession.For 2017 she was selected as Top Female Senior Vice President of the Year by IAOTP and Outstanding Professional of the Year by the Worldwide Association of Notable Alumni.Joan has also given back to her community by working with children at grade school level in math and high school students through AT&T on business planning skill development.She has also volunteered as a member of the board for the local little league and coordinated the parent volunteer group for a number of years. 

Looking back, Joan attributes her success to her training, her perseverance, mentors she has had along the way, and her passion for what she does.For the future, she will continue to grow as a professional and wants to continue to make a difference in people’s lives any way she can.
