Kannan Soundararajan, Senior Director and a experienced  Maritime professional for one of the Top Ship Management Co.was selected as Top Director of the Decade for the Maritime Industry by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP).

Inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only 1 Director for the Maritime Industry is selected for this distinction. Kannan is being recognized for this honor for dedicating close to thirty years of his professional life as a Director. He was honored at IAOTP’s Annual Award Gala at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas for his selection as Top Director of the Year. He will receive this distinction in December at IAOTP’s 2020 Annual Awards Gala being held at the Plaza Hotel in New York City.

The President of IAOTP, Stephanie Cirami stated that “Choosing Kannan for this award was an effortless decision for our panel to make.  He demonstrates true leadership and professionalism in all his endeavors and is beyond talented in his field. We are thrilled to be honoring him with this meritorious title and look forward to celebrating his success at our Annual Awards Gala.”

With such a phenomenal impact within the Marine industry and as a Technical Engineer, Kannan has certainly proven himself as an accomplished professional and expert in the field.  As a dynamic results-driven leader, Kannan has demonstrated success not only as a Director , but in every position ever obtained.  His impressive repertoire of prior roles included Chief Engineer on Board Ships and Shore management of Ship management company.  Kannan’s present key responsibilities for the company are overseeing the Vast fleet of OIL / Gas Tankers which includes Very Large Crude Carriers.

Before embarking on his professional career path, Kannan earned a Bachelor Degree in Engineering from a Marine engineering college in Kolkatta and has been honing the skills with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. 

Throughout his remarkable career, Kannan has received numerous awards, accolades and has been recognized worldwide for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession. For 2020 Kannan will receive not only Top Director of the Decade but he will also receive IAOTP’s prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2019 he graced the front cover of T.I.P. (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine by the International Association of Top Professionals and was on the famous Reuters Times Square Billboard in NYC.  For 2018, he was named Top Director of the Year in the Maritime Industry by IAOTP.  For 2017, he was selected as Outstanding Professional of the Year by the International Society of Business Leaders and for 2016, named VIP member of ISOBL.

Looking back, Kannan attributes his success to his perseverance, mentors he has had along the way and staying passionate in all of his endeavors. When he is not working, Kannan enjoys traveling, and spending time with his family. For the future, Kannan will continue to thrive as a professional and hopes to continue making a difference in people’s lives anyway that he can.
