Empowered Woman of the Year

Shelley Joy, Artist, Poet and Performer has just recently been selected as Top Artist of the Year for 2019, by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for her outstanding leadership and passion for the art industry.  


While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in the field, other affiliations and contributions to their communities.  All honorees are invited to attend the IAOTP’s annual awards gala at the end of this year for a night to honor their achievements. www.iaotp.com/award-gala

With over 3 decades of professional experience as a contemporary artist, Shelley has certainly become a respected and celebrated accomplished professional in the art community. As a dynamic, results-driven leader, Shelley has demonstrated success not only with her paintings, but she is also a Theatrical Artist, Poet, Song Writer and Performer.  Shelley’s work can be seen all over the world.  Her impressive repertoire of where her work has been showcased include, the Museo de San Miguel de Allende in Mexico, Museum of Modern Art in New York City and Toyamaya Museum in Japan.  Shelley has also been credited as an exhibitor at the Vanderbilt Museum, New Atrium Museum of the Louvre, Domus Design Center, Sunda Fine Art and Blue Mountain Gallery.  She has also participated in group shows with Charles Lucien Gallery, Puccio Gallery LTD and Ambassador Galleries LTD. 


Aside from her successful art career, Shelley is also widely known as a poet and performer.  She collaborates with other artists, musicians, actors and singers and she creates events so that these professionals can collaborate and network with each other.  


Shelley attended the Aegina Arts Center, the New England School of Photography, the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts, and the Arts Students League in New York.  She also studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University and the American Sign Language & English Secondary School. The President of IAOTP, Stephanie Cirami, stated “Choosing Shelley for this award was an easy decision for our panel to make.  She is in a class of her own.  Her talent, grace and brilliance at what she does, sets the bar very high for others in her industry and she is the whole package in everything we look for in outstanding professionals.  We felt she would make an amazing asset to our organization and we are looking forward to spend time with her at the gala.” 


Throughout her illustrious career, Shelley has received awards, accolades and has been recognized worldwide for her outstanding leadership and passion to the arts. For 2019, she is being considered for a feature in TIP (Top Industry Professionals ) Magazine, to be featured on TIP Radio, and for the Empowered Woman of the Year Award by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP).  Also for 2019, she was selected as Top Artist of the Year and will be honored at IAOTP’s Annual Awards Gala being held at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas.  She was selected as Outstanding Professional of the Year by Marquis Who’s Who and featured with Who’s Who of Professional Women.  Shelley is also very active in her community and is a member of the Art Students League; the Actors’ Equity Association, Broadcast Music, Inc. and SAG-AFTRA. She pays it forward by supporting charitable missions such as Doctors Without Borders, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity and CARE. 


Looking back, Shelley attributes her success to her perseverance, mentors she has had along the way and staying passionate in all of her artistic works.  When she is not working she enjoys traveling, dancing and spending time with her family.  For the future she hopes to continue to inspire others with her works of art and to have her work exhibited in more museums and galleries.
