Top Associate Professor of the Year in Finance
Fatimata Yeyya Ly-Baro, PhD., Associate Professor of Finance for Le Mans University was just recently selected as Top Associate Professor of the Year in Finance for 2020 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for her outstanding leadership and dedication to the Financial Industry.
Inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in the field, other affiliations and contributions to their communities. All honorees are invited to attend IAOTP’s Annual Awards Gala at the end of this year for a night to honor their achievements.
With over 25 years of professional experience as a highly qualified Associate Professor of Finance, Fatimata has certainly proven herself as an accomplished financial professional and expert in the field. As a dynamic results-driven leader, she has demonstrated success not only through her position as an Associate Professor for Le Mans University in France but in every other role she has been assigned over the course of her professional career.
Considering that her students are the most important persons in her professional life, she still strives to have a “No student left behind class”. Her definition of teaching is “instilling love into a learner”.
Currently she is back to Le Mans University after 16 years of expatriation (accompanying her spouse). During the expatriation period, Fatimata had been living in different countries where she contributes to the higher education system:

In the USA, she has been involved in higher education (lecturer at University of Houston and received an offer as CCC, College Campus Chair from Phoenix University)

in Saudi Arabia where she worked as the Finance Programme Manager at Prince Sultan University and as an active contributor to the Accreditation process

back to Senegal, where she was contracted as the Project Manager for the Institutional Evaluation at CESAG, the West African Business School, alongside with managing the Auditing and Accounting Program
Fatimata also contributed, via the International Affairs Office at Paris-Dauphine University, to the development of the CPA, Certified Public Accountants process, in Mali.
Her key areas of expertise include but are not limited to Corporate, Market and Entrepreneurial Finance, University Teaching and Accreditation, Research, Public Speaking, Micro and Small Business Support for Women and Small Business Initiatives.
Her impressive repertoire of prior roles have included serving as a Young researcher in Finance for Paris-Dauphine University, and serving as an Assistant/Associate Professor of Financial Management Sciences for 25 years.
Fatimata began her studies at the Universite Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne achieving a Master of Economics and Management in 1991. She finished her studies by earning a Doctorate in Finance from the Universite Paris Dauphine in 1999.
The President of IAOTP, Stephanie Cirami stated, “Choosing Fatimata for this honor was an easy decision for our panel to make. She is an exceptional leader, who is devoted to supporting women in business and promoting financial inclusion. We are looking forward to meeting her at our Annual Awards Gala being held at the Plaza Hotel in New York City this December.’
Throughout her remarkable career, Fatimata has won awards and accolades and has been recognized worldwide for her skills and adaptability. This year she will be considered for a feature in T.I.P. (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine and is being honored as Top Associate Professor of Finance by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP). For 2021 she will be considered for the Empowered Woman of the Year Award.
Aside from her role at Le Mans University, Fatimata authored a book which was released in 2002. Structure financiere de l’entreprise translated to English meaning, Financial Structure of the firm. She is a foundation member and an active Scientific Committee Coordinator of Ipode Think Tank. Fatimata remains a sought-after and requested lecturer who has the ability to integrate herself into any environment.
Looking back, Fatimata attributes her success to her love of learning, perseverance and passion to help others. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, writing, traveling and spending time with her family. In the future, she plans to assist women in the Sub-Saharan regions of Africa by educating them in business using digital tech and supporting them in projects and business plans to gain both social and financial inclusion. Fatimata will continue to make an impact any way she can.
