Mr. Winans is a leader, true pioneer in his field and a role model for every professional in all industries.

The President of IAOTP Stephanie Cirami stated, “We are so honored to bestow this

award to Mr. Winans. He is brilliant, his list of awards and accolades are beyond impressive. Mr. Winans is humble, gracious and so passionate with all he is involved with. He couldn’t be more deserving of this award and we cannot wait to spend more time with him at this year’s gala.” All honorees are invited to attend the IAOTP’s annual award gala at the end of this year for a night to honor their achievements.

Mr. Winans is being recognized for this honor for having over three decades of professional experience in the Financial Industry. He was selected as Top Money Manager of the Decade for 2019 and was honored at IAOTP’s Annual Awards Gala at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas.  In 2018, he was honored as Top Financial Analyst of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. Mr. Winans will be returning this year to IAOTP’s Gala at the Plaza Hotel in NYC to accept the Man of the Year Award for 2021.

Aside from Mr. Winans's successful career, he is also a space buff.  Mr. Winans always had a fascination with the space program, having grown up not far from the Apollo rocket building site and having two uncles who worked for the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena.  Mr. Winans had been collecting space memorabilia since childhood and for years, his private collection grew to one of the world’s largest. He would loan pieces of his extensive collection of US, Russian and Chinese space artifacts to museums for exhibits but he also wanted to ensure that his memorabilia and artifacts would be protected and used for educational purposes.  Mr. Winans created the non-profit The W Foundation, which continued to lend out his broad collections, which includes items from Project Mercury, the International Space Station, and the Space Shuttle program. Mr. Winans started to think about opening a museum, and one day in 2009 that dream became a reality. Mr. Winans found a vacant storefront which he decided to rent and he offered a one-time free pop-up exhibit of pieces of his collection which drew in more than 600 people over a weekend.  The shopping center management offered Mr. Winans the space for a permanent exhibit and the Space Station Museum in Marin County was established. The privately funded Space Station Museum is one of Mr. Winans proudest accomplishments. The museum is staffed with volunteers and has welcomed more than 197,000 visitors including 18 astronauts since opening its doors in 2011. Mr. Winans serves as President and focuses on doing community outreach and organizes the annual Novato Space Festival. Mr. Winans also works alongside the other volunteers on the weekends and admission is always free.

Looking back, Ken attributes his success to his perseverance, mentors he has had along the way, his love for research, and staying passionate in all of his business endeavors. Mr. Winans says he has been blessed, he loves doing what he is doing, and feels this is just the beginning.  When he is not working, he enjoys traveling, skiing and riding motorcycles. Incidentally, Winans is a direct descendant from one of America’s oldest families, and he is active in several heritage organizations. For the future, Mr. Winans has no plans to retire, he will continue to thrive as an Entrepreneur, continue to do his research and would like to grow Winans Investments to $1billion held in 500 client portfolios, up from the current 250, either through a merger with another firm or organic growth.
